Orthokeratology is a non-surgical process which reshapes the cornea by using custom designed gas permeable lenses (ELENS) thereby reducing the dependence of eye glasses or contact lenses. Corneal reshaping is a fitting procedure that temporarily corrects or reduces nearsightedness (myopia) with or without astigmatism after the contact lenses have been removed. By temporary, it is meant that ELENS are worn while sleeping (overnight wear) and then removed upon waking; whereby the myopia remains corrected or reduced significantly for all or most of the patient’s waking hours.
